We arrived early to photograph the remains of one of the vessels at Homebush Bay, an area with a fascinating industrial past. The decaying structure of the old ship caught my attention immediately — its weathered hull and years of exposure making it a striking subject in its own right.

What made the scene particularly interesting was the contrast behind it. Rising beyond the remains of the vessel was Sydney's modern urban development, a remarkable juxtaposition of the area's industrial history and its rapidly changing future. The early morning light highlighted the textures and deterioration of the old vessel, while the buildings behind were a sharp reminder of how dramatically the area has changed.

For me, this photograph is about more than an old ship. It captures a moment in the transition of Homebush Bay — Sydney's industrial history and the modern city that has grown around it. It was the contrast between those two worlds that made this image worth capturing.
