Mona Vale Ocean Pool is an aerial fine-art photograph of the famous Northern Beaches rock pool from directly above, as a large swell sends waves crashing over its edge — the calm geometry of the pool against the raw power of the Pacific Ocean. Available as a premium Australian-made canvas print in three sizes.

Every photograph is printed to order in Australia on premium canvas, wrapped around a 3 cm deep pinewood frame with thick pine stretcher bars. A 12-colour pigment ink system gives true, accurate colour, backed by a lifetime guarantee against fading. Delivery is free anywhere in Australia.

Profits from every canvas support the medical work of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders).

Room images are for illustration purposes only and show approximate scale. Actual appearance will vary depending on the size you choose and the layout of your room. Please measure your available wall space before selecting your canvas size.

THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTOGRAPH

Mona Vale Ocean Pool is much more than a beautiful location to me — it is part of my everyday life. Living nearby, I swim here regularly throughout the year, and I have come to appreciate how dramatically the pool changes with the seasons, the tides and the ocean conditions.

On this particular morning a large swell was rolling onto the coast, sending powerful waves crashing over the edge of the pool. From above, the contrast between the calm geometry of the ocean pool and the raw power of the Pacific created a scene that perfectly captures the spirit of Australia's coastline. Being familiar with the location meant I knew exactly where to be, and when the conditions would produce the image I had imagined. Moments like these cannot be planned to the minute — they require patience, persistence and a willingness to return until nature provides the opportunity.

For me, this photograph represents everything I love about the Australian coast: beauty, energy and constant change, in a place I am privileged to experience almost every day.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I return a canvas if I change my mind?

Because each canvas is produced specifically to order, returns aren't available for change of mind or an incorrect size choice — so please measure your wall space carefully and use the room views before ordering. Damaged or faulty canvases are always replaced.

What's the difference between this and Mona Vale Sunrise?

Same much-loved pool, two completely different views — Mona Vale Sunrise is shot at water level in warm dawn light; this one looks straight down from above as a swell breaks over the pool's edge. They pair beautifully.
